The return of Europe's top club competitions has been confirmed. Let's look at the top clubs with the most Champions League titles.
The UEFA Champions League is one of the most popular football cup competitions in the world. The inaugural season was 1955–56, however prior to 1992 the event was known as the European Cup or European Champion Clubs' Cup.
Real Madrid, which has won the Champions League 14 times, including the first competition in 1956, holds the record for most titles.
Since the tournament began in 1955, 22 clubs have taken home the trophy, with Real Madrid the only team to do so fourteen times, including the top five.
Bayern Munchen
It is the only team to have won all of its matches in a single championship tournament. Real Madrid, who beat Liverpool 1-0 in the 2022 final, are the reigning European champions.
Champions League holders qualified for next year's UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Champions League.
A total of twelve teams have won the competition more than once. The most successful clubs were the Spaniards, who won a total of 19 titles. England are second with 14 and Italy third with 12. The other winners are Germany with seven, the Netherlands with six and Portugal with four.
