LONDON – Pete Dunne successfully defended the WWE United Kingdom Championship against Zack Gibson on Tuesday, closing the book on a historic andtwo monumental daysfor promotion in the UK market.
Dunne defeated British Championship Tournament winner Zack Gibson in the headlining performance to close out WWE's second straight night at the Royal Albert Hall. It was a glorious night for the trio known as British Strong Style as Mustache Mountain, aka Tyler Bate and Trent Seven, defeated The Undisputed Era to become the new NXT Tag Team Champions.
WWE manager Paul "Triple H" Levesque couldn't be happier with the way things have gone over the past 48 hours for the official launch of the recently announced WWE NXT brand in the UK. rush.
"Coming back to the Royal Albert Hall for two nights and showing the level of the event we've run and taking fan engagement off the list, I don't think we would have done any better by launching a brand," Levesque said. reporters during the media crowd after the event. . "I'm proud of everyone here and very excited for the future."
Dunne, who competed in the inaugural British Championship tournament in Blackpool, England, in January 2017, felt the group had outdone themselves, and is excited at the prospect of giving the title a more consistent run with other British talent. , which are evolving.
"It's really important because we're relaunching a brand and something I'm passionate about," Dunne said. “I think we did justice to last year's tournament and more. Finally, this title has a full-time home where it can be the resource and we can build amazing stories around it and have competitive play like we did tonight. We can be something different and really represent British wrestling.
“It was an emotional moment for everyone. I've been doing this for 12 years since I was literally a kid watching British wrestling literally come out of nowhere and then see it peter out, I'm so excited everyone has this platform. Doing this with all my teammates was a very special moment. "
In Dunne, Levesque sees a champion and brand ambassador who can be the cornerstone in building and growing the NXT UK brand, a sentiment he happily reiterated following the conclusion of the promotion on Tuesday.

"From a brand representation standpoint, Pete has done an incredible job over the last year and a half," said Levesque. “His growth from him to me as an artist but also as a professional has been phenomenal. He is the perfect representation of this brand now and what he will bring to the future of the UK."
When WWE launched NXT U.K. announced, you'd think Mustache Mountain would be a sneaker to claim the NXT UK Tag Team Titles and similarly run the brand alongside her compatriot Ella Dunne. But just when it looked like Bate and Seven would see more action closer to home, expectations turned when they won the NXT tag team titles, a move they will likely continue to make frequent appearances in the United States.
It was the perfect backup for Levesque to add a big moment to Tuesday's show at the Royal Albert Hall.
"I think it's about launching a brand with style," Levesque said. "It's a great story and a sequel to it. What will happen tomorrow? That's the goal."
For Dunne, who has been the British Champion for over a year after defeating Bate at NXT TakeOver: Chicago in May 2017, it was a real moment watching his longtime friends and comrades-in-arms win the tag team titles. , not just the journey they took. together, but also the competitive rivalry they share.
"It's fantastic," Dunne said. "For me, from a friendly standpoint, especially in the last 18 months, we've obviously bonded and toured, so it's great from that standpoint. I always say I have Tyler as my standard. When I see them go out and doing this incredible show today, I feel like I have to get over that. It was the same when [we] did the Takeover in Chicago. That was our mindset. Not only did we try to promote NXT and the WWE Network, but also one of the each other. We're on top of each other. Always pushing each other."
For the youngest of the group, Bate, tonight marked a milestone in his entire career, a moment that he says shaped his position at the company. Seven, the eldest of the trio, put into perspective the shock that remains from climbing the WWE ladder.
"It just goes to show that we're not just a part of what NXT U.K. is. We're a part of WWE as a whole," Bate said. “Is there another time when we win the NXT Tag Team Titles at the Royal Albert Hall in what may be the greatest show in British wrestling history? It's crazy."
"NXT U.K., the launch of this brand means everything," Seven said. "Having the opportunity to do that here, in a place where WWE hasn't been in God knows how many years. A year ago we were in the middle of the ring and confetti fell when [Tyler] was crowned the first British Champion and that was the Most exciting night of my life, not to mention his. Then fast forward a year and we're in the middle of the Royal Albert Hall as NXT Tag Team Champions. Winning titles is what matters, getting more money, supporting your family. and making a career in wrestling was what we always wanted to do. Moments like this are the ones that matter."
Attention now turns to the upcoming slate of NXT UK events to be recorded in the coming months. The brand will hold eight events: later in the year in Cambridge, Birmingham, Plymouth and Liverpool. Bate hopes that the talent can meet and exceed the high expectations.
"I'm really looking forward to seeing who really has that star quality to step up to the level that we've built," Bate said. “NXT UK was built on people like me, Trent and Pete. I'm looking forward to seeing who can rise above our level.
“The unique thing about this brand is that it will continue to evolve, it will continue to grow, you will see ads coming in, you will see talent being hired,” Levesque said. "It will be a constant evolution."
Jesus. GIVE HIM PROFITS! Noam Dar is not the number 1 contender for the British Championship and Joe and MARK Coffey have been attacking the other contenders. This show is brilliant.#WWEUKCT pic.twitter.com/fVqPN2ga5s
